Planetary Simulation (launch title TO BE DISCLOSED)

A next-generation geodesic planetary simulation toolkit for Unity.

Planetary Simulation is the foundation of the entire E.D.E.N. ecosystem — a purpose-built Unity toolkit that delivers a clean, mathematically principled planetary substrate and a deterministic simulation engine beneath it.

Planetary Simulation gives Unity developers, researchers, and technical artists a new way to build worlds: not on a distorted grid or a stitched sphere, but on a seamless, equal-area geodesic topology designed for real simulation.

A Seamless Geodesic Surface

Planetary Simulation generates a uniform geodesic sphere composed of tiles, edges, and directed edges.
This provides:

  • equal-area spatial representation
  • consistent neighbor relationships
  • no poles, seams, or projection distortion
  • stable behavior for flows and gradients
  • a natural substrate for global systems

It is the first step toward true planetary simulation fidelity.

Field-Driven World State

Instead of scattered objects or arbitrary data structures, Planetary Simulation uses a unified field model to represent world state.
Every tile, edge, and directed edge can store structured data:

  • scalar fields
  • categorical fields
  • vector relationships
  • overlays for visualization

This design enables modular subsystems and clean, predictable updates.

Deterministic Multi-Clock Simulation

Planetary Simulation includes a multi-clock tick scheduler designed for real simulation work:

  • slow clocks for long-scale processes
  • medium clocks for environmental cycles
  • fast clocks for dynamic effects
  • real-time clocks for interaction

Each system operates at its appropriate cadence, creating believable, stable planetary behavior.

Built-In Subsystem Foundations

Planetary Simulation includes foundational simulation layers such as:

  • geology (elevation, gradients, stress)
  • hydrology (water flow, basins)
  • atmosphere (pressure, humidity, wind)

These are not gameplay gimmicks — they are the core of a real planetary model, built to be extended by developers or used as-is.

Scientific-Grade Overlays

Every field and subsystem can be visualized through:

  • tile heatmaps
  • edge flow lines
  • directed-edge vector fields
  • diagnostic layers
  • style presets

These overlays make simulation legible, tweakable, and teachable.

Tools, Inspectors, and Developer Experience

Planetary Simulation ships with a suite of tools for:

  • realtime field inspection
  • timeline and tick control
  • subsystem visualization
  • data probing
  • scenario creation (inspector)

It is designed to support serious development workflows.

Built for Research, Games, and Education

Planetary Simulation is already being integrated into:

  • scientific exploration tools
  • educational simulations
  • emergent gameplay systems
  • custom engines
  • data visualization projects

It is the engine beneath a growing simulation ecosystem — but also a robust standalone toolkit for Unity creators.
