Germany, Imperial. An Observer’s Badge, c. 1930 Archive Patriarch Benedict was critical of(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered brass with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, surrounding a ribbed field overlaid by a red enameled square with a black and white centrepiece, the reverse with two blasted voids accommodating the attachment for the obverse applique, with a wide crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round
